Determine to Live Before You Die - September 20 & 21

Stephen Stoned...

Core Scripture: Acts 7:1-60

Memory Verse: Romans 5:3 (NLT) "We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance."

Discussion Questions:
  1. What truth did Stephen present in his testimony to the Sanhedrin? How did he present this truth?
  2. What part of this truth did the Sanhedrin accept? What part did they reject?
  3. What are some of the ways we reject God's truth? What are some of the reasons why we reject God's truth?
  4. How did Stephen's story show that truth outlasts tension?? How do we know this happened?
  5. How can we live like truth outlasts tension? What are some of the ways we can do this? How does this principle point us to Authentic Faith?
Bottom Line:
  • Stephen died because of the truth by which he had lived. We see in his story that truth outlasts tension.
  • We face a choice. We will fall victim to tension and try to move away from truth and its consequences? Or will we recognize truth and seek significance as Stephen did? Will we follow his example and trust that truth outlasts tension?
  • The truth of who Christ is always outlasts the consequences, pain, or trouble we find ourselves in. So the question is whether we will live in a way that says truth outlasts tension.
  • We can be like Stephen and live like truth outlasts tension even when the truth traps us.
