Subject: The Role of Dating
Core Scriptures:
Exodus 20:3 (MSG) “No other gods, only me.”
Memory Verse:
Colossians 3:17 (MSG) “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Discussion Questions:
- This first person in the DVD was Alexa; she talked about how she ignored warning signs in her relationship with a boyfriend. She said “If you’re dating a guy you don’t want to believe that anything is wrong.”
- Do you think that statement is true in most dating relationships? Is it truer for guys or girls?
- She talked about her need to “be needed”, is this important in a relationship?
- Do you think this keeps people in bad relationships? When their boyfriend/girlfriend does something bad, do they say, “Good that is something I can fix”?
- Do you think it’s possible for a boyfriend and girlfriend to change each other in good ways? How does that happen? What about changing them in bad ways?
- How can you make sure that good changes happen in a relationship and bad ones don’t?
If our goal is to be whole, balanced people complete with full, well balanced lives, do you think a romantic relationship helps or hurts? Does it make us more whole, or less? - Read Colossians 3:17. How does this apply to today’s discussion?
