February 28 & March 1: Me Moderation
Core Scripture: Galatians 5:13-14
Memory Verse:
"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:12-13 (NIV)
Discussion Questions:
- Why did Paul tell the Galatians that they had freedom? Why is it important for us to have freedom? Why does God give us freedom?
- What did Paul say the Galatians needed to do with their freedom? What are the dangers of having freedom?
- What does it look like for us to choose to love others? What are some of the specific ways we can do this?
- How can we choose to love others while still taking care of ourselves appropriately? How can we strike this balance in our lives?
- What changes do you need to make in your life to choose servant hood over selfishness? How can you start making these choices today?
- Paul told the Galatians that they should be careful about how they used their freedom. These Christians, like us, had the choice to use their freedom for their own good to serve one another.
- In Christ, we have all the freedom we could ever want or need. We can use this freedom to choose to gratify ourselves. But Paul encouraged us to say enough.
- It is not wrong to be concerned about your own life. But at some point we have to say enough. Instead of being concerned only with ourselves, we as Christians must also choose to love and serve the people around us.
- Instead of allowing our freedom in Christ to become a battleground for selfishness, we should learn to choose we over me.
