Don't Spend Everything That's in Your Wallet (Saving & Investing)

March 1st & 2nd, 2008 - Saving & Investing

Core Scriptures:
Matthew 25:21 (NIV) “His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!”

Matthew 25:27 (NIV) “Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.”

Memory Verse:
Matthew 6:33 (NIV) “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Discussion Questions:
  • What is the longest amount of time you’ve saved up for something? How long did it take you to save up for what you wanted? How did you save your money? (allowance, jobs, bank account, birthday money?)
  • What is the most expensive thing you’ve saved up for? Was it worth the effort?
  • How do you envision your life 10 years from now? 20 years? 50 years? (family, career, how much money you have, etc..)
  • Financially, how do you think you will get to the place you want to be?

Bottom Line:

This month we have focused on finances. We understand that everything is God’s and we are just the stewards of His money. As His stewards, we need to be financially responsible with what He’s blessed us with. We’ve stated that there are 4 basic things we can do with money: get, give, spend, or invest. Part of using wisdom is putting away today what you will need tomorrow. When God sees that you are responsible with what He is giving you now, He will be able to bless you with more later.

Hey Fred:
How great to get comments from not one but both the Shirleys. Sorry to hear about Sandie. It's sad to lose a pet. Speaking of pets...the mare next door had her baby during the night and we have been helping the owners get her fed. The momma hasn't been very excited to nurse so we have had to help work with her. What an experience. This beats city living any day!
Love you guys so much!!
